Samsung Phone – How do I use you?!
I got a new phone this week.  I’ve been an iPhone user for a coupe of years, but I decided to go with a droid phone.  Gaahhh!  I was beginning to think it was a huge mistake.  Technology has never stumped me before.  This girl is not droid-savvy at all!  Ask me what I thought a few days ago, I’d tell you that I was returning the phone.  You will probably laugh when you read this next line:  I went on Youtube to try and figure out how to use this phone.  This was the epitome of frustration. Today, I am nearly in love.  We are in the honeymoon stage right now, working out the kinks.  The bright side to all of this (for now) is the screen is much bigger, and I can access my Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.  Smart phone winning!!!

Whiplash Weather
The weather is crazy.  Like, bipolar crazy.  I had to pull out the winter clothes again.  Pull out my scarves again.  Gloves, again.  Old Man Winter, you need to take a vacation!

This picture pretty much sums up how I felt about having to bundle all of the kids up, against their wills, and drag them out into the cold.  I do love that scarf…

Nobody has time for this.  It’s March…in the south.

The good news is that our concerns for a lasting winter have been addressed by the powers that be.  Today was a beautiful gorgeous day outside.  And it is only going to get better this week!  I think a painting project may be in order…

So far, I am really enjoying this challenge.  I feel at ease.  Learning the basics on my DSLR (and for free, I might add) is awesome.   I’m doing it at my own pace, and its totally sticking!  One really has to understand the importance of aperture, ISO, and shutter speed and how they are all connected.  I used to just point and shoot, and hope for a good outcome.  I’m anxious to go out and get those perfect pictures now!  You can read my post here to see what I’m talking about.  I’m really digging this challenge!

Weekday Mixer
It’s not every day where I show up to a link-up early.  Haha!  I hate to say it, but I knew it wouldn’t take long before I would link up again.  The name was appealing though.  I thought “Why not?”

I linked up here! (but the button was removed)
I was one of the first so I will have to check back tomorrow to catch some of the other bloggers that joined in.

Mango Pita Chicken Delicious
Today, a rare thing occurred in my kitchen.  I was able to try out three new recipes!  All healthy, and Big D-approved.  I felt like I had accomplished so much!  I chose the best one to put up on the blog.  It comes from one of Big D’s “Muscle & Fitness” magazines, so you can bet your sweet Aunt Sally that it’s healthy and packed with protein.

Honestly, there was much hesitation in trying the recipe, because I was afraid there would be a compromise in flavor.  I didn’t want it to taste like I was trying to eat healthy!

Who wants bland-flavored healthy food?

…crickets…

That’s what I thought.

Let me be the first to tell you that this recipe was amaze-balls, as I know my best friend will say, once I make it for her.

I introduce you to…

This is so simple to make, though I certainly do not enjoy cutting up a mango.  (Found a trick to that today, though!)

Ingredients:

3/4 plain Greek yogurt
1/2 a lime, juiced
1 1/2 tsp yellow curry powder
1/4 tsp chili powder or cayenne powder (optional)
4 cups chopped rotisserie chicken
1 mango, diced
1/3 cups almonds, chopped
1 celery stalk, thinly sliced
2 scallions, chopped
4 whole wheat pitas, halved
1 avocado, sliced

Mix the yogurt, lime juice, curry powder, and chili or cayenne powder.
Stir in chicken, almonds, celery and scallions.
Fill halved pitas with chicken mixture and avocados.

It’s all healthy, shhh!!

Hope you enjoy!

  2. Those look yummy! It's so hard to figure out how to use a new phone. I don't read the directions, I feel like if I can't figure it out I don't need to have it, haha. This weather is crazy! It's going to be 70* again Tursday but it snowed last Thursday. I'm so ready for Spring.

  4. I'm starting to love my Samsung, with each day that passes. I'm really enjoying the bigger screen, since I use Evernote a LOT for writing drafts and jotting down notes. Hey, if you gotta eat pizza rolls, you gotta eat pizza rolls. We've all been there. I don't eat like this every day, though I wish I could!

  5. I thought I'd have trouble with my iPhone. But when I got it, it was so easy to set up and use right from the start. I have been hearing that Samsung is for people who are smart in Math and Science. Which I am neither…LOL!

  6. Kristy, it is growing on me. I gave my iPhone to my daughter, which is not a functioning phone. But I still mess with it. It's definitely heavier than my Samsung, which was unexpected. I guess I can put on that “Team Droid” t-shirt now. Hahaha!

  7. Do try it, Tracy!!! It's really good. Never would guess it came out of a Muscle & Fitness mag. What is even MORE amazing is that it wasn't from Pinterest. The hubby actually tore it out of his mag for me to make it. Yeah. That just happened, in a house where magazines are just tossed out. (Sometimes before I get a chance to read them!)
